The Bistrica Gorge

Five km from Slovenska Bistrica we passed the Roman marble quarry. It was the largest deposit of marble in Slovenia. The layer of marble was 15 m high and 100 m long. The Romans were using the marble from this quarry for buildings in Celea (today Celje) and statues in the Roman Necropolis in Sempeter..
