Povir - Smarje

The church in Povir.

This part of Slovenia belonged to many different states in history ... seen also in the history of the local school.

From Povir the bus took us to Smarje where we visited our friend Zdenka. We bought some wine ...

and Kast pancetta there.

Lokev

Yesterday we were walking in the Slovenian Littoral. The bus took us to the village of Lokev famous for its old tower Tabor and the Karst prosciutto.
St. Michael's church in Lokev.

The old tower Tabor houses a museum. The owner Srecko Roze showed us objects he had gathered mostly from WW I and WW II.

Inside the church. It was painted during the WW II by the Slovenian painter Tone Kralj.

Gudurica

It was dark when we arrived to the village of Gudurica.
Church in Gudurica.

Window.

In Gudurica/Kudritz we had supper, tasted wines in one of their wine cellars and visited the gallery of Robert Hammerstiel's works.

Gudurica/Kudritz was till 1945 a German village. The house that now hostes the gallery was once owned by Hammerstiel's family.
