Minarets in Travnik

In 1991 in Travnik lived Croats (37%), Bosniaks (38%), Srbs (10%), Yugoslavs (13%). In the year 2005 Travnik was almost completly Muslim. The situation in Novi Travnik is similar.

Travnik

We ascended the hill with the Old Castle. The view of the town from the Castle was fantastic.

Travnik

There are two Travniks, the historical one (which we visited) and the new Novi Travnik (which we just passed). I had taken a few photos of the industrial complex Bratstvo (Brotherhood), now abondoned, in Novi Travnik which I later unfortunately deleted due to their ugliness.

Travnik

In Travnik we walked around sightseeing.
We stopped at the house where the writer Ivo Andric (1892- 1975) was born.

A brook is flowing past the mosque through the center of the town.

Mt. Vlasic

The last part of the hike was the best. The sky began to clear, the snow had disappeared, the meadows were full of different flowers ...

Mt. Vlasic

During the war in Bosnia (1992-1995) Mt. Vlasic was one of the battlefields. And awful war crimes were commited there.

Mt. Vlasic

Mt Vlasic is a beautiful mountain with vast meadows. It was one of the 12 contenders from the Balkans for the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Unfortunately due to fog and rain it didn't show us all its splendour.

Mt. Vlasic

Last week we spent 3 days (21, 22, 23 May) in Bosnia. The first day we ascended Mt. Vlasic and in the afternoon took a stroll in Travnik.
Galica, the starting point for Mt. Vlasic.

The weather was weird that day. We experienced everything: snow, rain, fog, wind, cold, now and then also sunshine ...
