Blossoming Hawthorn on Kozara

Hawthorn shrubs were in full blossom on Kozara, lots of them. Serbian folklore notes hawthorn (glog) is particulary deadly to vampires, and stalks used for their slaying must be made from the wood of the hawthorn.

The Orthodox Church Panagia Angeloktisti in the Village of Kiti

Last week (from Sunday 25 April to Saturday 2 May) we spent in Cyprus. We were staying in Larnaca. The first day we were sights seeing around Larnaca.
The Orthodox church Panagia Angeloktisti (church built by angels) from the 11th century.

Church Panagia Angeloktisti, built in the Byzantine style.

Inside the church there is a 6th century mosaic of the Madonna and Child from the earlier church that was built on the site and was found in 1952.

The mighty pistacia tree (500 years old) besides the church.
