The Bistrica Gorge

In the Bistrica gorge we saw the huge Marolt's Silver fir (Abies alba), the oldest (250 years) and biggest (43 m high, with the span of 605 cm at chest hight) silver fir in this part of Europe. Unfortunately a few years ago it was struck by lightening, the top was broken and since then the tree has been decaying.

Crossing the brook. The third tree from the left is the Marolt's Silver fir. (I didn't go there to take a look from near).
